What is a Biscornu?

A biscornu is a charming, eight-sided pincushion with a unique, irregular shape—its name comes from the French word for "quirky" or "irregular." This traditional needlecraft has been beloved since the 1800s for its unique decorative appeal.

About the Kit & Class

For the first time, my most popular in-person workshop, Introduction to Wool Embroidery, is available as a convenient kit and on-demand video class. Learn at your own pace as you stitch your way through this easy to follow wool embroidery project. This kit includes almost everything you need to complete your own biscornu and comes with a one-hour online course that covers all the essential stitches and shows you exactly how to assemble the finished piece.

(6) 20-yard skeins of SMT plant-dyed embroidery floss

(2) Cuts of fine linen stitching cloth (approx. 14" x 14" each)

(1) Needle set (2 wool embroidery needles + 1 needle threader)

(1) Solid brass floss card holder with screw closure for floss organization

(1) Frixion pen for pattern transfer

(1) Card of white sewing thread + hand sewing needle (for biscornu construction)
