Welcome to March Mending Madness!  And what a perfect time to have it too.  For me, March is the time of year when I have had enough of the cold winter weather and start to look forward to the warmer spring months.  It’s also the time of year when I start packing up heavy jackets and sweaters and readying them for their winter slumber while simultaneously beginning to pull out my warmer weather clothing.  There really isn’t a better time to take stock of what we have and see what needs fixing. Enter March Mending Madness!

To start us off I thought I would put together a framework to keep us motivated and moving forward throughout the month.  First though, I wanted to set the tone. Two words: chilled out. I know that I included the word MADNESS in this challenge, and by all means let’s go crazy and attack that pile of mending with everything we’ve got but also, let’s not beat ourselves up if we don’t finish it all.  It’s aspirational madness. I’d like to think of this challenge as a personal challenge that we share with a supportive community of people who want to learn from and cheer each other on. Feel free to participate as much or as little as you would like.

I on my end have given myself perhaps a bit too much to mend but I want to challenge myself to take care of it because some of it I have been lugging around the world with me, never using because it is always in the ‘to mend’ pile.  What a waste! That being said, I don’t want to discourage anyone who has only a few things (or even just one sock!) that needs mending from participating. I want to encourage everyone to set the goal that works for them. And did I mention there are prizes?

I hope throughout the month we can all check in with each other and see what everyone is mending, learn from each other, and encourage each other.  Sounds good, eh? Let’s do this!

Make sure to follow the #MarchMendingMadness hashtag on IG to see what everyone else is doing and use the hashtag in your posts so we can see what you are up to!
