This pattern was designed to help those knitting a yoked sweater for the first time.  It is knit from the bottom up in three pieces (body and two sleeves) and then joined to create a yoke.  The simple body and sleeves, all knit in stocking stitch in the round, gives the knitter time to begin practicing knitting with their non dominant hand before the yoked section of the sweater.  The yoke is a simple, easy to remember pattern, so you can focus on learning the skill of knitting with two yarns, one held in each hand, as well as the skill of weaving in your yarn as you go (to change color) instead of spending a lot of time weaving in your yarn ends with a tapestry needle at the end of your project.  If you are already an expert stranded knitter, this simple yet beautiful pattern will be an easy and quick knit.

Sizing Notes

This yoked sweater is designed to have a traditional look with a more updated silhouette.  It is to be worn with a minimum of 5 cm (2”)  of positive ease.  The sleeves and body are designed to be more fitted than a traditional yoked sweater around the chest and upper arms and are slightly more cropped, hitting just above the natural wrist and hip.  With this in mind, make sure to check each measurement in your chosen size in the sizing table (page 8) before beginning your pattern to make sure each measurement will be the correct size for your unique body shape.  Due to the simple nature of the yoke pattern, adding or subtracting stitches to the body or arms of this pattern to make the chest or arms larger or smaller is simple and easy to do.
